Life 101
Carmen is blonde haired with beautiful shimmering blue eyes. She’s average height and weight and muscular. She’s 18 years old. She’s an athletic person and is usually popular with guys here is her story. It is a story of romance, and a regular girl dealing with regular problems.
Carmen is walking through the hallway and her eyes fall upon none other than her secret crush Austin. He’s also blonde and has blue eyes like hers; he’s the captain of the football team and is very athletic. She leaned against the lockers and daydreamed of one day talking to him, when he walked by her and bumped into her leg, which was sticking out into the hallway. Their eyes met and he spoke.
“Oh I’m sorry… um what was your name again?”
“It… it’s Carmen, and it’s okay.”
“Well okay bye Carmen…”
“Bye Austin.”
“How do you know my name?”
“N…No reason.”
“Okay then…”
He gave her a weird look and continued walking and made it to his class. The tardy bell broke her out of her trance after speaking to him, and she cursed out loud and ran to her class. She walked in embarrassingly and stared at the irritated class and teacher.
Mr. French looks up from his teaching and glared at her. He sneered and spoke,
“It is so good of you to join us Miss King. Now would you kindly take your seat so the rest of us can get back to our learning? Some of us do care about an education.”
“Yes Mr. French… Sorry.”
“NO talking! Go to your seat Miss King, not another word out of you!”
Carmen takes a seat and stares blankly at the chalkboard that was painted with algebraic signs and equations. Her eyes were bleak as she stared at it and her pencil was busy tapping on the desk. She quickly stopped and tried to work on the problems, but her brain just couldn’t seem to focus. She was too busy thinking of what had happened today. She was so stunned that he even talked to her, she was such a dork for crushing on him.
The bell rang and she quickly piled her things into her book bag and ran toward the door, but as she did Mr. French stopped her and spoke,
“Miss King, I can assume since you didn’t focus in my classroom today, you will have homework. If it’s not turned in tomorrow in class you will fail!”
“Yes Mr. French… It will be done.”
She walked to her next class blissfully and didn’t even notice when her friend Crystal tried to flag her down in the hallway. Her thoughts were too focused on Austin. He was in her next class. She slipped into the bathroom and primped her hair, combing it and brushing it and touching up on her makeup. She then hurried her way to her next class and slipped in the door just as the bell rang. She sat down and told herself mentally that she would not lose her focus during this class, it was her favorite, cooking. She sighed and ran her fingers through her shimmering hair and stared at Austin with her sparkling blue eyes. She was busy dreaming when Crystal walked over and spoke.
“Hello, earth to Carmen, you there? Still crushing on the hot-head Austin huh?”
“More than ever.”
“I know how you feel girl, I’m loving Kyle more and more every day. He kissed me the other night. Did I forget to tell you?”
“Yeah you did! I can’t believe it girl, you’re so lucky!”
“I know.”
Mrs. Locklear told the class to get started on their recipes so she quit talking and began to whip up her cornbread recipe. She put in all the ingredients and mixed them up, and then she set the oven and put her cornbread into it. When their time was up she put it on a plate and delivered it to Mrs. Locklear for her grade.
“Hmm… moist, sweet and excellently made.”
“Thank you.”
“I give you a 100, good work Miss King.”
She packed her bag and cleaned her station before walking over to where Austin was. She decided she needed to talk to him if she really did like him. She couldn’t continue being a chicken and not talking to him, he would never get to know her that way. Besides Crystal would kill her if she didn’t start talking to him and giving herself a fair chance.
“Hey Austin… I was thinking, since I’m the track team captain and you’re the football team captain, maybe we could hang out sometime?”
“Umm… I guess so Carmen. Meet me at the flagpole after school.”
“Okay, I’ll see you then.”
She quickly ran to Crystal and let out a small scream before telling her the news, Crystal was excited for her. Maybe things were looking up for Carmen. She had finally gotten a guy to like her that wasn’t a complete dork like those chess club guys. She smiled and then left her class, now that this had happened she knew she couldn’t focus through Science with Mrs. Close.
She sat down in Science and took notes and then she did her lab project hurriedly. Once Science class was over she quickly hurried to the flagpole and fixed her makeup and hair. Her curls gently fell over her shoulders as she waited. She peered around with her beautiful eyes and then she saw him, his muscle shirt showing off his buff body. She smiled harder than a laughing hyena and walked over to him. She stood beside him and spoke,
“Hey Austin, ready to go?”
“Yeah, I guess, you ready?”
“Totally.”
“Then we’re all set, let’s go walk on the beach, okay?”
“Sure, the California coast is beautiful.”
They headed off for the beach smiling. Her eyes never left his until she tripped over a rock. Blushing she looked away and sat down in the warm sand, she stared out into the waves as they came crashing in onto land and dying out. Carmen patted the sand beside her, gesturing for him to sit beside her so they could talk. They were having a good time and now she just wanted to talk with him and get to know him better.
“Austin, I have a question.”
“Okay shoot.”
“Why did you decide to come here, with me? I’m not any better than those other girls.”
“Yes but you asked me, and plus, I kind of like you.”
“You do?”
“Who doesn’t? I’ve been meaning to ask you… how about we make it official, you know, our relationship and everything.”
“Okay, you and me, we’re a couple now, right?”
“Yes, I’m glad.”
Austin looked up and saw it was getting late, he took her hand in his and walked her up the beach. Their footprints left in the sand. The stars sparkled in the sky and seemed to connect to make a heart if you looked at them from their point of view. The moon was a crescent and looked like half of a heart, of course everything looked like a heart since she was so happy they were together now. The scene was truly beautiful and so was that night.
“We better be getting you home Carmen.”
“Yeah.”
They headed home and reached it when the street lights blinked on after their sleep during the day. She smiled and looked into his eyes. He leaned close to her and nearly kissed her when she suddenly turned away. Carmen blushed and spoke,
“I’m sorry, maybe later, it’s too soon.”
“Yeah, okay. I’ll see you tomorrow. Maybe we can hang again?”
“Sure… until then Austin.”
He nodded his blonde head and turned away, heading for his home, which was only a few blocks away. She watched him leave and then hurried upstairs to her room. Carmen jumped onto her bed and laid there, staring up at the ceiling, awestruck over the night’s events. Her mother walked in and spoke,
“You know, I’m so glad I spent my money to buy you that expensive cell phone so you could call me if you’re late.”
“Sorry mom, I was… out.”
“Yeah out… dinner’s about ready baby.”
“I’ll be down in a minute mom.”
“Okay, don’t be long or it’ll get cold.”
Her mom walked out and she got up out of the bed and looked in the mirror. Her hair was tussled a bit but she didn’t fix it, instead she walked downstairs and ate her dinner quietly; her mom wasn’t really the one she talked about guy stuff with, and since she was from a divorced family there was no dad to talk to either. The thought of her dad made her wonderful night a bit less wonderful, but she soon dismissed the feeling, nothing would ruin this night.
Once done with her dinner she headed upstairs and got ready for bed. She removed her contacts and makeup and climbed in bed, feeling exhausted over school. All night she tossed and turned, dreaming about Austin and her date. She dreamed that they had stayed out all night and talked and just had a wonderful time.
Her eyes opened sleepily and gazed at the clock, which read 6 AM. She got up dreamily and readied herself for the day. She primped even harder this morning, trying to make herself beautiful for Austin. She hurried downstairs and caught the yellow bus. She went to the back of the bus and sat down beside Crystal and told her of the events of the previous night. The girls chatted quietly.
“I know I almost can’t believe it you and Austin Stevens!”
“I know girl, total hottie!”
“Yeah, is he sweet?”
“Yes, and he almost kissed me…”
“Almost.”
“Well it’ll happen sooner or later, I just know it.”
“Yeah, see you after school girl!”
The bus came to a stop and the door opened and she was pushed out of the bus with a great force. A smile came over her as she saw Austin. He was in a black tee-shirt and a black leather jacket, and jeans with holes in the knees. His hair was spiked, as always, and looked absolutely gorgeous. She hurried to catch up to him.
“Hey Austin.”
“Hey Babe, hey listen, maybe we could hang tonight? Wanna go to the movies?”
“Sure, what time?”
“I’ll pick you up at 6 okay?”
“Yeah, can’t wait!”
She gave him a quick hug and ran off to make it to her homeroom. She barely made it and then nearly freaked when she remembered that she had to finish her algebra work or she would fail. She hurried through it and skipped over a few questions, but she was pretty confident that she had made a good grade on it. She turned the work in after algebra and left for Science.
After Science she went off to cooking and before class started she hugged Austin again and then set off to finish her recipe for the day. It was a dish of your own choosing so she chose Chocolate Cake. She smiled when she presented it to the teacher, and again when she got a 98.
After class she hurried home and called Crystal over. She wanted to pick out the perfect outfit and they only had a few hours to get her ready. She looked until she had dragged everything out of her closet and then she found the perfect outfit. It was a tight-fitting black top with emerald green sequins. It was strapless and beautiful on her. Her long flowing hair shimmered after she washed it and it fell over her shoulders beautifully. She then put on some black leather jeans and worked on her makeup. She accented her eyes with eyeliner and shadow and painted her lips red with lip gloss.
“With any luck that gloss will be gone by the time the movie is over, if you know what I mean.”
“Don’t push it Crystal…”
She laughed and hurried downstairs when the doorbell rang. She was so excited she was nearly shaking with anxiety of what would happen tonight. She had decided that tonight, she would let him kiss her, if he wanted to. She yelled into the kitchen,
“Mom I’m gone, be back before curfew!”
“Okay, call me if you’re later than that.”
She hurried over to him and smiled. She put her arm in his and got into his Convertible, it was red and shiny and beautiful. He pulled the top up and she sat down in the leather seat. Carmen leaned over and spoke,
“So what are we going to see?”
“I don’t know what do you want to see?”
“How about something scary?”
“Okay, but I thought you didn’t like scary stuff…?”
“I don’t…”
“Then why do you want to see it?”
“Because I know you’ll be there if I get scared.”
“Oh, I get you, sure babe. Whatever you want to see is cool with me.”
She smiled and got out of the car, they headed in and he got two tickets to “Dark Water” She shuddered just at the billboard picture but she didn’t care, she wouldn’t be watching the move, she’d be close to Austin. A smile flickered across her face and planted itself there until the movie started, then she screamed and leaned her head on his shoulder. He leaned his on top of hers and they laughed while everyone else screamed. Carmen smiled as he leaned closer to her and their lips met in one innocent kiss. He ran his fingers through her hair and then left it as their kiss ended.
All too soon the movie ended and she put her hand in his as they walked back to his car. She got in and sat down, but he didn’t start the car so she got her cell out and spoke,
“What’s your number?”
“555-0191.”
“Okay, mine’s 555-9987.”
“Okay, I added you.”
“Me too.”
“Austin, wanna come over tomorrow and watch a movie with me, maybe one that’s not so scary?”
“Sure, but will your mom care?”
“Nah, she’s got a date tomorrow.”
“Oh okay.”
His car pulled up to her driveway and he leaned over and kissed her again on the cheek before opening her door and letting her out. He walked her to her door and then turned back to his car to drive home. He seemed as happy as her about the night and it’s events, they had kissed and it was wonderful, she almost couldn’t wait until they kissed again.
“Ma, is it okay if Austin comes over tomorrow night?”
“Wait a minute? Who’s Austin?”
“He’s my… boyfriend. You trust me don’t you?”
“Baby it’s him I don’t trust.”
“Ma we’ll be good, we’re just watching a movie.”
“Okay, I’ll be home late, he better not be there when I get home!”
“Mom… you know he wont.”
She took off her makeup and got into bed, anticipating the next day. She would have to wear something cute, but also something her mom would approve, if she was going to have a boy over she couldn’t be too cute looking. She dreamed all that night of his handsome face and hair and how cute they looked together.
The next morning went as usual and she found out she had passed Algebra, and all her other classes, it was her last day of school today. That meant she could hang with Austin over the summer break. During free period she met him and they went into the janitors closet and kissed for about 10 minutes before John, the janitor shooed them out. She saw him in Cooking and spoke briefly about it and then went home straight after school to get ready for his visit.
She cleaned the living room and picked the movie, they would be watching “John Tucker Must Die.” True it was sort of a chick flick but she knew Austin wouldn’t mind, they probably wouldn’t even focus on the movie… they would be too busy talking and stuff.
He arrived at 5 and her mom was just leaving. His hair was spiked as usual and was strikingly blonde. His eyes sparkled as he walked in with her. She put her arm in his and looked pleadingly at her mom to leave. He looked at her mom and then back to her and spoke,
“Hello Mrs. King. I’m Austin.”
“Hello Austin. Carmen, I’ll be out on my date late, probably after midnight, don’t wait up, and remember what we talked about!”
“Yes mom.”
She closed the door behind her mom and led Austin into the living room. She dimmed the lights and turned on the movie and handed him the bowl of popcorn, lightly buttered, just like they both loved it. She smiled and tossed a piece of it at him playfully and waited. Then she spoke,
“I know it’s a chick flick, I’m sorry.”
“Baby it doesn’t matter, with any luck we won’t be watching it anyway.”
“Yeah.”
She smiled and the evening was a success. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and stared at the T.V. not really even watching. She smiled and bit her lip slightly, looking innocent. He took the hint and kissed her sweetly, she kissed him back and they didn’t stop for another few minutes. Then she laid down next to him on the couch and patted the spot beside her, wanting him to lie down too. She then focused on the movie and began to laugh at it. Before she knew it her eyes were slowly closing and she drifted fast asleep in his arms.
Suddenly she heard a door open but ignored it, thinking she was alone. Then her mom peeked in and saw them lying together on the couch. Carmen still hadn’t noticed and she was startled when her mother’s voice pierced the silence of their night,
“Carmen! What the heck! I knew this would happen. Austin, nothing personal but you have to leave… now! Carmen, I’ll deal with you later!”
“Mom, we didn’t do anything! I swear.”
“Sure…”
“I’ll be going now Ms. King. Bye Carmen, see you at school.”
He ushered himself out and Carmen ran crying to her room, she fell on her bed and began to sob. Her sides heaved in and out as she took in deep breaths. Her mother walked in and wiped a tear away.
“Carmen… I’m sorry.”
“No you’re not, I finally get a boyfriend and you have to ruin it!”
“I am sorry, and I’m sure he understands…”
“Whatever, I’m still going to see him…”
“Okay, but don’t scare me again.”
“Mom, why don’t you trust me?”
“I just…”
“Just because I’m older and have a boyfriend doesn’t mean I’m going to be stupid like those other girls… we just fell asleep, that’s all!”
“Okay, I believe you.”
“Good.”
She stopped her crying and woke up the next morning at 9 AM. She sighed and dialed the number on her cell that read “Austin”. It rang twice and then she heard his sleepy voice say hello.
“Hey Austin.”
“Hey Carmen.”
“Look, I’m sorry about last night.”
“It’s alright, I had fun…”
“Me too, I just wish I was in your arms again.”
“You know, I could hold you again.”
“Really? You still want to?”
“Of course Carmen. Come on over, my parents don’t care and they don’t ever walk in the game room. We can finish our kiss…”
“Okay, I’ll be over in 15.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
She hurried over to his house, after telling her mom where she was going. She smiled as he answered the door and they went up to his game room upstairs. It didn’t have many games except for a large pool table and a huge T.V.
“So, where were we Carmen?”
“Right about here.”
She leaned over and kissed him, wrapping her arms around his neck. Carmen had never liked a guy this much and she was falling head over heels for him. She was truly in love. He felt her embrace and matched it, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her. His hand met her hair and entwined in it, feeling the smooth sleek feel of it. She broke apart from his kiss and looked into his eyes. He stared into hers and he spoke,
“I love you”
“I love you too Austin”
“So, now that we’re out of high-school, what next Carmen?”
“I don’t want to leave you… let’s go to college together.”
“Okay, then we’ll get married.”
“Yeah…”
She smiled and they kissed again, this time a bit more passionately. As they kissed she felt like the luckiest girl in the world. She was with the perfect guy, and they were having the most perfect night. The only way it could be more perfect is if they were truly alone and married, together forever.
She stopped kissing and took his hand and spoke,
“I know it’s late but let’s go to the beach, it would be so much more romantic.”
“Sure babe, we can sit in the sand.”
“Exactly.”
She hopped in his car and they headed for the beach. She took off her socks and walked down the beach, waiting for him to follow. She spotted a pier and walked over to it. She sat down on it and waited for him. Their eyes twinkled with mischief and pure love as they sat down under the pier and he kissed her. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close. His grip was strong but gentle and she loved the feel of being so close to him. She could feel the warmth coming off of their body as she sat there kissing him. She kissed him back sweetly; feeling like a little kid again, she was in love with him so much. She suddenly felt like they were being watched and she quit kissing and looked around them. Walking toward them was her mother, and his father, angry faced and slightly worried looking. She blushed and removed his hands from her and stood, brushing the sand off of her behind.
“Mom, it’s not what it looks like…”
“I’m not sure if I can believe you. You’re too young to be doing this Carmen.”
“Too young for what mom? It’s not like I go out with five guys a week like you. I love him and he loves me. Don’t question that mom, we weren’t even doing anything, just kissing.”
“Don’t talk to me like that young lady! You can’t see him anymore, understand?.”
“Who says? I won’t stop; just because your relationship was ruined by another girl doesn’t mean you can ruin mine! Come on Austin, let’s go.”
“Yeah, I agree Carmen, I’m out dad.”
They ran together hand in hand to his car and drove off, leaving their parents in utter shock. He smiled as they drove away, but where could they go, they didn’t have a home. She smiled and thought, the thought of leaving town crossed her mind but she dismissed it. They would have to get out of state, their parents couldn’t find them if they left state. They wouldn’t have to go to college, they could get married and live together forever, and not have to be told they couldn’t kiss.
“Austin, let’s leave state. That’s the only way.”
“But what about our parents?”
“They’ll give up…”
“Okay, I love you and would do anything.”
“Then drive to my house and I’ll grab some stuff, then we’ll go to your house and then leave.”
“Sure Carmen.”
They left for her house and she ran inside grabbing some clothes and food and a map. She wanted to go to Colorado, which wasn’t far away, about a day’s drive. She then hopped in her car and they drove off for his house. He got his stuff and they got in their cars and headed off for Colorado, she had told him while they were at his house that she wanted to go there and start a horse ranch and he approved. So off they went for Colorado, two teenagers in love.
She began to tire so she called him on his cell and told him that she wanted to pull over at the nearest hotel, since they were out of state, they were safe. They stopped at the Hyatt Regency and got a room. They slept until morning and then they began to drive again and by 4 they were there. She stared out the window of her Corvette at the grand mountains and she nearly cried it was so beautiful. Carmen took the lead and they drove to a large ranch, with rolling hills and green lush pastures. She talked to the owner and he was willing to sell it for cheap. It was all the money she had saved, but when she handed it over, the deed was placed in her hands. She smiled because she found out that the horses there were part of the deal; she now owned some top racing and conformation horses.
“Austin, the only things left to do are change our license plates and get married.”
“Yeah, let’s get married in two weeks. A small wedding okay?”
“Sure, I don’t need a big wedding, just you and me.”
“Okay baby.”
They went inside and began to work on wedding plans, and in two weeks they were husband and wife, and Carmen was now Mrs. Stevens. She smiled and kissed her husband sweetly and he returned her kiss. As they were driving home from the wedding, she got a call on her phone from her mother. She answered it and spoke slightly angrily.
“Hey mom, it’s all done, you can’t stop it now.”
“I know sweetie, I don’t mind.”
“You don’t?”
“No, I don’t mind. I can see you love him. In fact, I guess I approve.”
“Oh Mom, I love you! Thank you so much. Why the sudden change of heart?”
“I love you too. It’s because I didn’t want to lose you over some guy, honey.”
“Why don’t you come visit? We’d love visitors.”
“Okay, I’ll be there in a day or two okay?”
“Sure here’s the address 74855 Wellington Stables Drive.”
“Okay thanks.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”

“Bye.”
“Bye.”
